About Clémence

About Me

I

t was the stories behind jewels – their heritage and history –       that first attracted Paris born Clémence Devaux to the jewellery industry. With a wealth of experience and a passion for growing unique jewellery brands and departments, today Clémence works as a consultant, to take startups and established brands to the next level.

Work Experience

History

Clémence first fell in love with the world of fine jewellery during an internship, which she undertook while studying History of Art at the IESA University. This passion grew further when she spent a year interning at Christie’s Auction House in the jewellery department. She remains fascinated by antique and vintage jewellery to this day.

After graduating, Clémence went on to create her own costume jewellery business, designing and crafting striking pieces using brass and semi-precious stones. She later moved to London to finish her Masters degree at LSE, and decided to study gemology with the GIA at the same time. She honed her knowledge of diamonds and coloured stones, their unique qualities, gradings and inclusions to become an expert in her field.

Development

Development

At just 22 years-old, Clémence was headhunted by William&Son. Through her work with William&Son she has grown the jewellery department exponentially, working closely with William&Son’s in-house designer Nicola Sanderson to create iconic house collections and form a thriving bespoke jewellery service.

In 2014 she introduced the Artist in Residence program - an initiative dedicated to bringing the finest new jewellery designers to light. In 2015 she launched the Vintage Edit - an exclusive collection of one-of-a-kind vintage pieces secured at auction and in private sales across the world. Most recently, she and Sanderson have designed and developed William&Son’s first Haute Joaillerie collection, and are currently in the process of designing a debut bridal collection.
